Episode 6 – New Players, Lore Masters, and Conventions…Oh My! Show Notes

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of LOTROCast! In this episode, we focus on New Player help and the Lore Master.

You can find the episode on iTunes, the Zune Marketplace, and direcly download it here.

Drop in and comment about a possible LOTROCon at the thread on the official forums here. If you are interested in helping out with the organization of the convention, drop me an email at Lotrocast@gmail.com.

In this week’s server rundown, we talk about a few interesting happenings on the servers.

On the Landroval server, there are a few things going on. First of all, check out Nathon’s idea for a bounty system for Role Players here.

Also, check out the Rohirrim’s fish derby and picnic event information here.

Over on Nimrodel, check out Pariah’s guide to the Battle of Lorien.

And make sure you check out Issue 8 of the Arkenstone Observer, handcrafted with love by Swifty of the Arkenstone server. You can find it here.

If you want to see how some Guardians have altered their UI, check out this thread.

Look for the next episode in two weeks. It is very likely the episode will focus on crafting in some way or another. It may also be the first ever LOTROCast Videocast! I’ll keep everyone updated as the weeks unfold.

  1. Love the podcast as always, just wanted to mention that the entrance to the spider cave at Cal Sprigly's farm cellar has been there from the beginning, linking the cave entrance by the hunting lodge. But, it seems that it's a good tip considering some people haven't noticed it before.

  2. Thanks! I think this episode is my best yet. As to the spider cave, I had never done the man quests. What can I say...I love the Shire and Erid Luin.

  3. Hey, that's all good. Coming from beta, the man starter zone was at one point the only starter zone in the game. As such I became intimately familiar with (read memorized) that part of the game.

Hey, just noticed I used the same expression "Oh My!" in a recent entry of mine. I thought it a bit quirky when I it came into my head and now I know where it came from. Hehe.

  4. Am I the only one with problems listening to the direct-download version?

  5. Hrmmm....I just downloadid it direct no problem. I would recommend you try again. If that doesn't work, just email me at the lotrocast@gmail.com website and I will try to attach it to a mail and send it that way.

  6. I'm still listening to the show (the Lore-master segment just started) but I thought I'd mention that user channels *can be* monitored by GM's. Just like IRC, they can see which channels are the most populated which on most servers is GLFF, and they do listen. If things get bad enough they'll speak up and possibly even discipline abusive players.

Great show so far, looking forward to hearing the Lore-master interview, since that's also my main class!

  7. Oh and a big *WHAP* for calling it a Quest Tracker. The Quest Tracker is the list you can toggle on/off your UI. The new "area blob" feature which as of the 7.2 patch is out of beta is a Quest Guide.

  8. Did I do that?

Well, I suppose if Turbine devs can make that mistake from time to time, so can I.

    :p

  9. My, it's only been 2 weeks but that's far too long to be away from LotRO and the forums!

Anyways, great episode as always and thanks for the shout-out! Keep it up.
